Rocky, a fellow Grand Strand local, has recently launched a small company named Appslant and produced an iPhone Application called Wake N Play. This application is an alarm clock that won’t turn off until you have answered five moderately easy questions. I have a really hard time getting out of bed in the morning, so I offered to give the program a test run.
I set the alarm for 5:45, a ridiculously early hour of the morning. Usually an alarm going off at this time of day wouldn’t even register, let alone wake me up. Wake N Play was easy and intuitive to navigate. I had no problem setting the alarm, and it went off when it was supposed to.
The alarm is LOUD! It not only woke me up, but also woke up my son in another room. If you routinely sleep through alarms (I’m guilty), you won’t sleep through this one.
I had picked up the iPhone and begun answering questions before I was even fully awake. The first was basic algebra, which you really do have to wake up to answer! I didn’t realize you were required to answer five questions, so after that first one I started to doze as I sat there holding my iPhone. That blaring alarm went off at me again and forced me through the rest of the series.
By the time I was done de-activating the alarm I was fully awake. I could have gone back to sleep, I contemplated it. But my brain was awake enough for me to be able to make an intelligent not to follow that counter productive course of action.
Rocky says that this is a beta version of the app, with lots of improvements to come. I am brimming with excitement at the possibility of being able to enter my own questions. I could use Wake N Play as a dual purpose app then, hauling my lazy butt out of bed while working through academic flashcards or habit changing affirmations.
This is a great app that I’m sure a lot of people need. It functions very well now, and has more development in its future. Get it for the low introductory price of 99 cents while you can. You’ll be supporting the company and future development while getting a deal, and you’ll have access to all future upgrades.
